Hello miller, Allow me to make one final observation now that I have had a bit more time to have thought through your argument. I think your "distinction is one of great importance", is a false one! With no disrespect, you have invented something that doesn't(necessarily) exist; You assume those that are the group in Acts 4:31 are the same that Peter preached to in Acts 2? I think this is also false! I do not believe scripture (clearly) supports this. Notice 4:23, ".. they went to their own ('friends'- ESV, YLT). If they were they same group of believers as in Acts 2, why does verse 4:31 read, "...they were all filled with the Holy Spirit..."? It doesn't say, they were filled again, or a second time, etc. No such distinction exists! There is simply no indication that these believers were "retreads" filled a second time. We know that Peter is in Acts 4, we know that he and others are threatened, and we know that they leave and go back to their own company, their companions so to speak. And we know they pray for boldness, and we know that they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak the Word with boldness. We know Peter is in that group, the scripture is clear on that. So if he had everything he needed when he was Born again when Jesus ascended then why did he need to get filled in Acts 2:4 and why did he get filled againt in Acts chapter 4? And whats up with the posts not showing on the front page? |
