Hello miller, Allow me to make one final observation now that I have had a bit more time to have thought through your argument. I think your "distinction is one of great importance", is a false one! With no disrespect, you have invented something that doesn't(necessarily) exist; You assume those that are the group in Acts 4:31 are the same that Peter preached to in Acts 2? I think this is also false! I do not believe scripture (clearly) supports this. Notice 4:23, ".. they went to their own ('friends'- ESV, YLT). If they were they same group of believers as in Acts 2, why does verse 4:31 read, "...they were all filled with the Holy Spirit..."? It doesn't say, they were filled again, or a second time, etc. No such distinction exists! There is simply no indication that these believers were "retreads" filled a second time. Hi Brad, Gye, I think maybe I might be able to help here. If I"m wrong Miller, sorry for poking my nose in :-). Many years ago I received about the same kind of teaching. The terms were different: instead of Miller's "filled with" and "immersion in," I was taught the difference between the "indwelling" of the Spirit (at salvation) and an "infilling." You guys are absolutely 100percent right. It is all the same, G-d gave us everything we need all at once and forever. I think maybe a distinction is being made between the ordinary daily walk in the Spirit and the times when the Spirit is really heavy (such as in corporate praise and worship, or when we're telling someone about Yeshua). At one time I thought it was a "different" infilling of the same Spirit. At that time I was under Pentecostal/Charismatic teachings. I won't say that they actually taught it that way, it's just the way I understood the teachings. I believe now, it's more of a stirring up of the very Spirit that is always there. Most of the time He's doing His work very quietly, but sometimes you can "feel" the Spirit so strongly, it's easy to think that it's a "new" infilling or indwelling. Am I making any sense, or just making matters worse? Shalom Cheri |

I understand what you are trying to say. However the Scripture clearly says the house was shaken and they were all filled, its showing us events that are taking place. Its like me saying last night it rained and the basement was filled with water. I'm telling you that those events transpired at the same time. | ||||||
