miller, In Acts 2:38 Peter isn't saying we can but we shall. We shall is an absolute; Do we have any more of God's Spirit today than we did when we were saved? 2 Peter 1:3 tells us that God has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. I would think that God got the job done the first time. It is up to us to nurture what God has given us all. 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:3-11. Paul tels us in Colossians that we are complete in Christ. The question is do we believe it or not. In Him, lionheart |

Yes he is saying we shall, because they asked him, what can we do to have this, and he told them what to do, and said do that and you shall. All of God's promises are yes and amen we know that. He said they shall, because they were seeking it. And Peter knew that all you had to do was ask for it and you'd get it. Look at Acts 4:31, here we have believers who were filled with the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:4, yet the bible says here they were filled, this shows they did not have all they needed at the new birth. |
