Greetings Azure! The Greek text literally reads: "not a drunkard not a brawler, but gentle without fighting without love of money" The two words 'drunkard' and 'brawler' are not textually connected, but they share a similar meaning in that the first word denotes someone who is combative because of alcohol. So, the first two nouns describe the violent person we are not to be, while the last three adjectives describe how we ought to be. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
