NYP, God's day to you, You wrote "No doubt tongues could, at times be "Known languages," but I believe that in the book of Acts, they were "ecstatic utterances." How else could one have understood in his own language what was being spoken by one who did not speak his language, while at the same time, another who spoke a third language understood what was being spoken as well?" How could they be "ecstatic utterances"? Please define what you mean by "ecstatic utterances". Is what being spoken known by at least one person in the audience? We know this happened in Acts 2. If it is a "known language" can it be "ecstatic utterances"? Based on the other references of tongues (and the defintion of the word), I concluded that Acts 10 and 19 are also times when a known tongue was spoken. "Ecstatic utterances" ... which I say is no language at all, is what the pagans did first and the church has copied. |

Let me rephrase that. "ecstatic utterances" was a very poor choice of words on my part. Divine utterances is more fitting. | ||||||
