Pastor Glenn, You are not barging in on the thread. I think the discussion of exactly what grace is, is central to the question. What was the initial creation of Adam and Eve by God in His image and likeness and in friendship with Him if not grace? If that is not unmerited favor what is? What did Adam and Eve fall from if not a graced relationship with God? Emmaus |

2 | Imputed sin | Rom 5:12 | Pastor Glenn | 63448 | ||
Emmaus, Here are some scriptures relating to God creating man. Gen 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Heb 2:6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him? Heb 2:7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Before the fall, man did not "require" grace. Man did receive unmirited favor, in that man did not do anything to deserve honour and glory. Grace was due to God's pleasure. But, after the fall we do "require" grace so that God can give us time to repent of our sins and come to beleive in the name of the only begotten Son of God. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Pator Glenn, No argument on the citiations in your last post. Adam and Eve did not "require grace" before the Fall because God created them in a state of grace and they had it from their beginning. After they lost that grace, the state of original justice or justification, that was God's gift in creation, they ten "required" grace to restore their relationship ith God. And I also agree with Joe that the second gift restoring grace and the lost relationship with God is an even greater than the first because by disobedience the opposite of grace was "earned" or deserved.
