Kindness ... You asked, "Do you think in Prov. 8 we have wisdom personified?" ... Yes, as well as folly in the surrounding chapters. It gives a better illustration. You asked, "Why is wisdom spoken of in the feminine gender? Is it a Hebrew language thing?" ... Possibly. I think it was the mothers that taught their children. Timothy learned from his mother and grandmother (2 Tim 1:5). I think it is one reason why the mother's names are listed when the king's are mentioned. Steve |

According to Zondervan's NASB Study Bible, wisdom is personified in Proverbs 8:1-36. In verses 8:22-31, the NASB Study Bible describes this as a hymn describing wisdom's role in creation. Wisdom is here personified, as in 1:20-33; 3:15-18; 9:1-12. | ||||||
