I agree with Morant62, you really need to speak with a your pastor (yours, hers, both) about this. I don’t suggest seeking counsel on a web forum. Having said that, here is my own experience. My wife was divorced before I met her. My pastor had no problem with marrying us. We have been married for over 25 wonderful years. We now have a daughter away at college. She has accepted Jesus Christ, she has found a church that she attends while away from home, she attends Christian activities on campus, and she belongs to a Bible Study group in her dorm. I have never had any doubts that this is the woman and family that God planned for me. Did either of us commit adultery? I do not believe so. My wife did not commit adultery in her former marriage. Are we condemned to hell? I cannot believe that God would grant us so much happiness here on earth and then condemn us for these actions when we go to meet Him. If either of us did commit adultery (which I do not believe we did) based on Matt 5:32, then are we not forgiven based on Matt 12:31, "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.” My suggestion: Pray, seek pastoral counsel, and may God bless. |
