1 | Why did God put us on earth with satin? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 196042 | ||
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. The picture basically is that at Creation, God gave Adam authority over the whole world; when he sinned, he handed that authority to satan. So to those who are not born-again through faith in Jesus Christ, satan is still lord of this world (although they don't know it). Some say that the spiritual realm where they operate is the "second heaven": 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 (King James Version) 2I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. [it is generally thought that Paul is speaking about himself here. If 'paradise' is the third heaven, and the sky we can see is the first heaven, other spirits operate in the second heaven] There is a heirachy of power - powers, principalities, rulers of the darkness etc. Well, these powers (some say they are the angels which fell with satan from Heaven) are all under satan, and like him, their mission is to kill steal and destroy: John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. If you ARE born-again through faith in Jesus Christ, satan HATES that with a passion- you become a target. Jesus' death and resurrection brought them to NOTHING: Colossians 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. ... and even though they are defeated, they want to destroy what they can before their time is brought to an end. Doesn't this match up with experience? Jesus told us to expect it, but that in Him, we are the victors: John 16:33 (King James Version) 33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. 1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. ... or as a great preacher I know says "I've read the last page - AND WE WIN!!!" |
