Greetings Free Thinker! Actually, the numbers didn't change my friend. Gen. 6 says 'two of every kind' and Gen. 7 also says 'two of every kind'. Same numbers! The only difference is that chapter seven adds some details not mentioned in chapter six. For instance, we have already discussed the clean and unclean. But, notice also that chapter six does not specify male and female, while chapter seven does. Try as you might my friend, this is not a big deal. It is simply a difference in the level of detail in two accounts. Now, as to why there are two accounts. That question is actually quite simple. Chapter six records the first command of God prior to Noah's building of the ark and prior to the flood. Chapter seven records God's commands to Noah at the time he is getting ready to enter the ark. The account is mentioned twice because God told Noah these things twice. Concerning who bought the field, that one is also pretty easy. The priests could not accept the blood money back. So, they used it to buy the field of blood. It was still Judas' money they used, so they probably bought it in his name. So, if someone buys property using my money and putting the title in my name, couldn't someone say that I bought the property? This was most likely the case with Judas. The deed was probably in his name, and the priests may have even claimed to be acting on his behalf. They sure couldn't explain where the money really came from! :-) Well, I'll chat with you later my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
