Bible Question:
Dr. Norman Geisler, in the CHRISTIAN RESEARCH JOURNAL, Vol. 28 No. 06 2005 page 29 has a list of essential Christian Doctrines. In paragraf three Dr Geisler has a list of "It is not necessary, however to believe in." "Christ's virgin birth,...Christ's bodily ascension...Christ's present service, or...Christ's second coming and final judgement as a condition for obtaining a right standing with God (justification)." What is your reaction? Do you agree or not agree with Dr. Geisler. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND WITHOUT SCRIPTUAL EVIDENCE BACKING YOUR OPINION. |
Bible Answer: We need to repent (that we are sinners), call on Him - confess with your mouth, believe with our heart and make Jesus your Lord. 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:37-39) ... Verse 21 says AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED (also Rom 10:13) Acts 4:12 says it is by His name alone. 30 "Sirs, what must I do to get saved." 31 They said: “Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will get saved, you and your household." (Acts 16:30-31) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek (Rom 1:16). 09 For if you publicly declare that ‘word in your own mouth,’ that Jesus is Lord, and exercise faith in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved. 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:9-10) In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation --having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise. (Eph 1:13) It is His grace (Acts 15:11, Eph 2:5 ... Ephesians 2:8 adds thru faith), justified by His blood (Rom 5:9) by His life (Rom 5:10). When I did this when I was 4 years young, I didn't even understand what a virgin was. |
