Bible Question:
Dr. Norman Geisler, in the CHRISTIAN RESEARCH JOURNAL, Vol. 28 No. 06 2005 page 29 has a list of essential Christian Doctrines. In paragraf three Dr Geisler has a list of "It is not necessary, however to believe in." "Christ's virgin birth,...Christ's bodily ascension...Christ's present service, or...Christ's second coming and final judgement as a condition for obtaining a right standing with God (justification)." What is your reaction? Do you agree or not agree with Dr. Geisler. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND WITHOUT SCRIPTUAL EVIDENCE BACKING YOUR OPINION. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Justme! I would concur with Hank and Kalos my friend. To put it simply, it is not 'what we know, but Who we know' that saves us! :-) Rom. 10:9 says, "That if you confess with your mouth, ‘‘Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." 1 Cor. 15:1-5 says, "Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. " As important as the rest of these doctrines, they are not necessary for salvation since Scripture never once lists them as necessary for salvation. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
