Subject: GOD TURNED HIS BACK ON JESUS WHEN JESUS |
Bible Note: Hi DarcyA, Thank you for this verse in 2 Corinthians. I had read it today and had quoted the verse prior to it in one of my posts, but it didn't come to my mind when I was talking to graceful. An interesting verse to compare with 2 Corinthians 5:21 is Ephesians 2:15. In 2 Corinthians 5:21 we see the word "made" and in Ephesians 2:15 the word "make" or literally "create". So the idea of 2 Corinthians isn't that God FORCED or "made" Him to be sin on our behalf. We are reconciled to God because He was the fulfilment of the Law and sin comes from the Law. As the NASB says, "He has committed to us the word of reconciliation." 2 Corinthians 5:20, "be reconciled to God". Ephesians 2:15, NASB, alternate reading, "the enmity, by abolishing in His flesh the Law." Ephesians 2:15b, "...that in Himself He might make [create] the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,..." Ephesians 4:22, "that in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self [literally, man],...and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self [man], which in the likeness of God has been CREATED in righteousness and holiness of the truth."
