Subject: Who says the Sabbath is on Sunday |
Bible Note: There is no verse in the Bible that says you are to worship God on the Sabbath or any other day. There is no set schedule to do anything in the Bible. I've posted this in this thread, but I will post it again: Galatians 4:8-11 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. We think since we are told that Jesus rose on the first day of the week he rose on a Sunday. Can you look up in the sky(Genesis 1:14) and tell what day Sunday is? I can not, but I can count 14 days from the new moon after the vernal equinox(Exodus 12:2) and know Jesus died on the 14th day of the same month(Exodus 12:6) and that he rose 3 days and 3 nights after this.(Matthew 12:40) Here is an example of how we are to do things now: 1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. We are not to take communion weekly, monthly, or annually. We are to take it as often as we would. There is no set schedule. Regarding the sabbath here is how we now rest, seeing that Jesus fulfilled, not abolished, but completed the law: Hebrews 4:1-10 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Praise the Lord! Norm |
