Subject: IM PREACHING ON SUNDAY.................. |
Bible Note: Emmaus: The quote does have a Franciscan ring to it. I did a little research this afternoon which confirmed what you said, that St. Francis of Assisi is the likely author. ..... It is for his simple prayer that he is perhaps most remembered. I've always thought it to be one of the most beautiful prayers in the world outside of Scripture. I love it so much that I've decided to share it on this page with anyone who may not be familiar with it: THE PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI -- O Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace! ... Where there is hatred, let me sow love ... Where there is injury, pardon; ... Where there is discord, harmony; ... Where there is doubt, faith; ... Where there is despair, hope; ... Where there is darkness, light, and ... Where there is sorrow, joy. ... Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life." --Hank |
