Bible Question: In Exodus 28, God choose married men with children to become ordained as priests -- why are many priests today sworn not to marry? |
Bible Answer: The priesthood was done away with after the perfect sacrifice was offered. Any priest that are functioning to day are not authorized by the Word of God. 1 Tim. 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; When Christ ascended up to heaven he left men with certain responsibilities in the function of the church for it's growth and well being, notice that there is no mention of any priest. Ephes. 4:10-13 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Every person that is a genuine born again believer is in the royal priesthood as an individual. 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: In the old Testament the priest was used as a go between and he only could inter into the presents of God in the most Holy place in the temple. When Christ died for us the vale that separated God from believers was torn from top to bottom showing that God himself has opened up the way to himself. Now we can go directly to God with out the use of a priest to intermediate for us. Hebrews 4:14-16 (KJV) Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Friend you better stay where you are or find another church that teaches the Bible word for word. A good way to tell if the church is teaching truth is to watch and see if the ones that are going into the church services are carrying Bibles in with them! If they aren't they are most likely just going through the motions of ritual and they don't have the reality of the living Christ in their life. My question to you would be, have you had the experience of a personal relationship with Christ yet. i.e. are you sure without a shadow of doubt that Jesus is in you and you are in him?
