Subject: Greek genitive cases of the word "of" |
Bible Note: Hi Emmaus, I am late in responding to you, but I am trying to answer everyone. I only wanted to say in response to the annointing that you spoke of, that I look at it a little differently. Your wife was annointed with the words "Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit". I think of the Holy Spirit as the Giver and the holy spirit as the gift. I think that the "case" of the word gift is as important as differentiating between thinking of Jesus as a man or as a Man when we think of eating His flesh in communion. John 6:52, "The Jews therefore began to argue with one another, saying, "How can this man [Man, NKJ] give us His flesh to eat?" Jesus therefore said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves." When one thinks of Christ as Holy Spirit instead of just a man, then he can understand this gift of holy spirit of which we partake and which is given to us. I believe that it is the spirit which gives life; the flesh profits nothing. John 6:63. From the heart, Ray |
