Subject: The Rapture, when will it be? |
Bible Note: gkidder: Welcome to the forum! The problem is, for me, is that there are other ways o understand Prophecy, and all the basic four ways have some interesting points. For me I look at the early Church Fathers, and attempt to get an understanding of how they understood their thoughts on when Christ would return. I personally have some serious concerns about some of those who are dogmatic that Dispensationalism is the Only way to understand Biblical prophecy. I do not suggest that you are unaware, but just for thesake of review I mention the following, for better understanding. The four views of the Millennium are; Historic permillennialism, Dispensational Premillennialism, Postmillennialism, and Amillennialism. Each of these views have some very soild reasons that scholars have reached these view points. Thses are not liberal hieratics who are unloving Christians, looking to start a war of theology. Certianly there always some who are so dogmatic that unless you believe as they do you are not saved. Rev. John Hagee is one such person. He believes that the Jews will be saved even without accepting Jesus as Lord. Dr. Tim LayHaye has co-authored the LEFT BEHIND series of books, that are fiction. That's why you find these books in the fiction catagory. Many have read LayHey's books and did not reaolize that thses books were not exactally pure Gospel. These Books have made much money for the authors to say the least. A good set of commentaries would have been a better investment, as far as I am concerned. One book I reccomend highly is THE MEANING MILLENNIUM FOUR VIEWS Edited by Robert G Clouse. published by InterVarsity Press. This is the very best book of it's kind in print, I think so anyway. I am not a "Pan Millennialists" and I have studies this subject for enough time to say I take the Historic Premillennialism view of prophesy. I think it is important to know where you understand the endtimes. For how you seen the end of times is going to effect how you understand the beginnibg of time, creation. I hope me sharing of these thoughts will give you some food for thought. We may disagree, but we never should be disagreeable. I may be wrong but your post seems to have a angry tome to it. I f I am wrong please excuse me. Remember the world judges us by how we love one another. Blessings to you friend and brother in Christ. Justme |
