Subject: How I do to stop sinning? |
Bible Note: Dear Talmid, I do not wish to make you sad, yes we can overcome, but we must believe the Word of God, not what we think things should be. Christ has conquered all but this body will not go into the next glorious life because it is flawed. We will receive a resurrection body. In Isaiah 64:6, we are told that all our good works are like filthy rags. That we all have sinned and all have gone astray. And in I John 1:8-9 we are told that if we believe we are without sin we deceive ourselves, however Jesus will continually cleanse us. Of course, Jesus was without sin, that is because He is God, that is because He came to save us...if any of us could have done so, He would not have had to come, become one of us and die. He truly did become a man so as a man He would be the perfect fit to pay our debt. I am sorry to say so, but from what I see of the scriptures, not sinning is a continuing struggle this side of the grave. Yes you can overcome certain sins, but there will always be another that you may not have noticed before. It takes keeping your eyes on Jesus and walking in the Spirit to overcome. I don't think you can find one perfect saint in all of the Bible and I believe this frankness of the Bible is for a reason...truth, AND encouragement. I see it as a glorious struggle, walking with Jesus each step of the way. I believe He loves us as we are and that we should always strive to overcome...but we will have to continue to strive to overcome in this life. Romans 9:24 If you look in the letters to the churches, in each one we are told of the blessings for those who overcomes - Rev. 2:7, 2:11, 2:17, 2:26, 3:5, 3:12, 3:21 etc. I believe we are expected to strive to overcome all the days of our lives. However, if we become saved and immediately die, nothing is required but our faith. We "get in" because Jesus paid the price, not because we have overcome or are good at all. Praise the Lord! This is what the good news is all about. One more thing. What you have said about Jesus is true but if you mean that we can become little Jesus's you may be on the wrong track. There are cults which teach that we can become or attain to becoming little christs. We cannot attain to Him. He is our creator God. He was not created. God prepared a body (Hebrews 10:5)for Him who was with him from eternity (John 1:1-3,14). We were created by and for Him and we should follow His model but our success is ever in His hands.
