Subject: How I do to stop sinning? |
Bible Note: I would just like to add this. Remember Galatians 5:16 "...Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." This is what this means to me: If I try to go on a diet, all I want to do is eat all the things I should not eat. Just the idea of focusing on the problem makes me want to do it more. If I focus on the fact that I should not say something, it's bound to slip out of my mouth. I believe this scripture is giving us a sort of formulae that will help us minimize our sinful tendencies. If I give the Lord each day at the beginning of each day, and I ask Him to show me what I am to do for that day, I will focus on that, and not on those things which tempt me so. If I am walking with him, practicing a consciousness of Him walking with me, I will not tend to sin as much as if I am focusing on that object which tempts me...or focusing on my self and my own desires. While we are in the flesh, I do not believe we can walk totally sinless. The flesh tugs on our fleshly nature all the time as we see in Romans 7:15-25. I read one of Billy Graham's books a long time ago where he described what it was like to be a born-again believer. He put it this way. There were two row boats in the river, one went along with the current or flow of the river and the other was rowing against the current. We all are in the same river but to walk with the Lord you are striving against the current. I hope this is of some help. Itiswritten. |
