Subject: How do I pray for myself? |
Bible Note: David, perhaps, on reflection, you will see a need to reconsider your statement that you don't think that Christians should pray for themselves. In your very next statement you affirm that Jesus taught His disciples to include in their prayers their petition for daily bread. And, I would observe, that Jesus also included petitions for forgiveness of debts and deliverance from evil. [Matt. 6:11-13]. Moreover, Jesus prayed for Himself, for His glorification, in the high priestly prayer of John 17; and in the garden of Gethsemane He prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will." [Matt. 26:39]. The way to disovery of truth, on a StudyBibleForum or elsewhere, is to measure the validity of what we think against the incontrovertible truth of Scripture, and thereby to correct the error of our ways. --Hank |
