Bible Note: Dear Momma, Does one limit God when he says that God cannot lie, or is he simply saying what God has revealed about Himself? Matt. 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, ' Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'" So the word that proceeds out of the mouth of God is heard on a daily basis by some believers? I thought the word was only that which God has already spoken through Christ and His prophets and apostles, that word which is already written down in Holy Scripture. Heb. 1:1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, Heb. 1:2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. I thought that God speaking to people was very selective, not something he did routinely and casually with many of His people. Num. 12:5 Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the doorway of the tent, and He called Aaron and Miriam. When they had both come forward, Num. 12:6 He said, "Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, shall make Myself known to him in a vision. I shall speak with him in a dream. Num. 12:7 "Not so, with My servant Moses, He is faithful in all My household; Num. 12:8 With him I speak mouth to mouth, Even openly, and not in dark sayings, And he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant, against Moses? " This is not a matter of limiting God, but of what God says about His speaking to people. The Bible does NOT teach that one of the blessing of being reconciled to God through Christ is daily conversations with God. If it does, pleas show me. For guidance in daily living we take our concerns to Him in prayer (Phil. 4:6,7). Then we have the leadership of the indwelling Holy Spirit through His written word and the counsel of those He has gifted to be our pastors and teachers and counselors. Peace, |
