Subject: Call those things that are not |
Bible Note: Mat 21:21 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen. Mat 21:22 "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." Hi, M.S., I don't know who Joyce Myers is but I have heard the above passage being misinterpreted very simular to what you wrote. There are some passages that certain "sects" which sometimes call themselves Christians like to quote out of context a lot. This seems to be one of them. Following is a little context for it: Mat 26:39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will." 1Jo 5:14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 1Jo 5:15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. What we ask must be according to His will. We cannot know His will unless we have His Spirit and His word within our hearts. John 10:34 is another one they love to misinterpret out of context. (Ooooh they love that one!) ;) Love and peace in Jesus, Bob |
