Bible Note: Hello Hank! Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." [ESV] Sure! I'll compare those translations for you.. Readability (1 is the "most readable", 4 is the "least readable") 1. NIV 2. ESV 3. NASB 4. NKJV Accuracy (1 is the "most accurate", 4 is the "least accurate") 1. NASB 2. NKJV 3. ESV 4. NIV Style (Overall Score).. 1. NASB 2. ESV 3. NIV 4. NKJV The readability of the ESV is very "smooth", but at the same time is not as interpretive as the NIV. The ESV is very accurate, although not surpassing the NASB, even though it is not "muddled" by seventeenth century sentence structure like the NKJV.. I have really grown to like the ESV a lot! The ESV has a certain "flow" all to its own, and I would place it somewhere below the NASB and somewhat higher than the NIV on my own personal scale.. :-) Blessings to you, Nolan |
