NASB | Revelation 2:17 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.' |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 2:17 'He who has an ear, let him hear and heed what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God], to him I will give [the privilege of eating] some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone with a new name engraved on the stone which no one knows except the one who receives it.' [Ps 78:24; Is 62:2; 1 John 5:5] |
Bible Question: Does this mean that only the 144,000 who receive a new name on this white stone will go to heaven to spend eternity with God? What about all the people being saved now? If we are not being saved from hell for heaven, what for then? |
Bible Answer: I agree with the others and add that the 144,000 witnesses, from the twelve tribes, are set apart to be empowered by the Holy Spirit (Joel 2:28-32a) witnessing like the Apostle Paul or the Apostle Peter. Again, all 144,000 are composed form each tribe of the children of Israel. There will not be a gentile among them. If someone claims to be one of the 144,000, ask, "which tribe?" Hope that adds, In Christ |
