Bible Question (short): Is asking for money false? |
Question (full): Thanks for the help... interesting passage... Unfortunately, this is not what I seem to be searching. I recall that the passage had more to do with identifying a false teacher/priest/prophet. A verse or two before talked about helping those in need. Something like: If a christian is travelling from their home, you should take them in and take care of them for three days. If, on the other hand, they ask for money/charity then they do not come with the word/light of god (thereby can be identified as false teachers.) I realize I am paraphrasing completely (since I cannot remember the verse). The discussion came up between myself and some friends when we were trying to figure out who to give some found money to (very small amount, but money nonetheless.) One person said, Give it to me and I will find a good charity for it. This led to the verse in quesion, which I am now trying to look for. |
