NASB | 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose]. |
Bible Question (short): Does dying bring forgiveness? |
Question (full): Mel, While I appreciate your response, I don't believe it makes sense. Here's why: 1) You say that the blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness IF we confess - this is conditional. 2) You say that IF we die then the blood covers the sin whether it is confessed or not. - this is unconditional (except for the fact that death has occurred). The blood covering sin cannot be BOTH conditional and unconditional. According to your view, why is unconfessed sin covered in death but NOT covered in life? What bearing does the state of our body have on whether we are forgiven or not? Or did I misunderstand your answer? Please support your view with scripture. We all have opinions but God's Word is truth. Thank you. |
