NASB | 1 Peter 2:24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Peter 2:24 He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed. |

Bible Note: Greetings Imf! I praise God with you that your son doing well my friend! :-) You said that you would not be convinced that God causes sickness. For the most part, I don't believe He does. I believe most sickness is a natural result of sin. However, there are Scriptures which indicate that in some instances God did cause sickness. Allow me to mention a few. 1) Miriam was struck with leprosy in Num. 12 as a result of her sin. Who caused her to instantly be struck with leprosy? Why didn't God heal her instantly? 2) 1 Samuel 25:38 says that God struck Nabal so that he died. 3) How about the plagues of Egypt? In Ex. 12:29, God struck down all of the firstborn. In Ex. 9:8-12, God stuck all of the Egyptians with boils. 4) In Exodus 32:35, God sturck all of the people with a plague because of the golden calf. 5) In 2 Sam. 12:15, God struck David's son and he become ill and died. 6) In 2 Sam. 24:15, God sent a plague on the people of Israel for three days and 70,000 people died. I could go on, but this surely is enough evidence to convince anyone from Scripture that God does indeed cause sickness on some occassions. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
