NASB | James 2:14 ¶ What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 2:14 ¶ What is the benefit, my fellow believers, if someone claims to have faith but has no [good] works [as evidence]? Can that [kind of] faith save him? [No, a mere claim of faith is not sufficient--genuine faith produces good works.] |
Subject: Is salvation by faith only scriptural? |
Bible Note: Faith alone, is not, and never has been a bible concept. Let's take a look a the book of Heb.11:8 and compare it with Romans 4, here in romans 4 Paul was asking the question about what Abraham our father had found? Abraham was called out of Ur to go into a land that God would show him and he went not knowing where he was going, (That's Faith), he packed up his belonging and went! (action). I disguss this with others on this forum, and they insisted that it was (faith alone), what needs to be understood is when God tell us to do something, we must do it no matter what it is. God through his Son Jesus Christ left us word from the apostles, who preached on the day of Pentecost, and said "Repent and be baptized EVERY ONE OF YOU in the Name Of Jesus Christ",(Acts 4:12 is where SALVATION IS) (Acts 2:38). (Action) is to follow one's faith, Acts 2:41 Then they that GLADLY RECEIVED HIS WORDS WERE BAPTIZED: AND THE SAME DAY THERE WERE ADDED UNTO THEM ABOUT THREE THOUSND SOULS. (ACTION) (ACTION) (ACTION) This happens when one gladly receive God's word! (Gladly). |
