Bible Question:
I agree with your answer. Therefore, if Christ has fulfilled the Law (Matt 5:17), why do we insist on taking one aspect (moral), remove it from the rest, artificially systematize it using the 10 commandments (the whole Law is moral, not just the 10), and teach that it must continue to be kept? Bible Answer: Because God says so. "Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler" --1 Peter 4:15 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the first commandment with a promise), SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH." --Ephesians 6:1-3 "For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God." --Ephesians 5:5 "If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,' you are doing well" --James 2:8 "By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, 'I have come to know Him,' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him" --1 John 2:3,4 "For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality" --1 Thessalonians 4:3 On a side note, it really bothers me to see so many people who claim to have faith in Christ with the seeming attitude of "How LITTLE can I do for God?" I do not for one second believe that we are saved by works, but I wholeheartedly agree with James when he says "No works means no faith." --Joe! |
