NASB | Hebrews 7:27 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 7:27 who has no day by day need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices, first of all for his own [personal] sins and then for those of the people, because He [met all the requirements and] did this once for all when He offered up Himself [as a willing sacrifice]. |
Subject: The sinless sacrifice; He is holy |
Bible Note: Greetings Ray! I tend to agree! The only thing that concerns me is that so many translations translate the phrase as "his own" rather than "their own". I'm experienced enough to translate most passage without any difficulty, but I don't know anywhere near as much as these translators. Therefore, I'm just afraid that there is something I'm missing. If I had to make a decision, I would translate it right now as, "their own sins". However, I also think that Raven made an excellent point. Even if it is saying that "He does not need to make a daily sacrifice for His own sins...", it does not follow that the verse is affirming that Christ has sins. So, either way, I think your point is clear - Jesus is a sinless sacrifice. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
