AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 7:27 who has no day by day need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices, first of all for his own [personal] sins and then for those of the people, because He [met all the requirements and] did this once for all when He offered up Himself [as a willing sacrifice]. |

Bible Note: I am not sure of the question you are asking but I will give you briefly what information I know about the two versions. The NKJV is derived from the 1611 authorized version. It was written to bridge the gap with the changes of the English language. I have a KNJV and from the preface it also seems that time was also spent reviewing some of the manuscripts of the Septuagint (Greek)of the Old Testament and the Latin Vulgate as well as manuscripts from the Dead Sea Caves. I know even less about the NASB because I do not own one though I would like to. The NASB has taken the research one step further in that besides reviewing all of the above resources it went back to the earliest recorded documents we have of the bible and retranslated them. These two versions and the 1611 KJV are by far the mosty acurate translations of the bible. As for the verse you ask about it says if you read in context: KNJV Hebrews 7 Greatness of the New Priest 20 And inasmuch as He was not made priest without an oath 21(for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him who said to Him: "The LORD has sworn And will not relent, "You are a priest forever[1] According to the order of Melchizedek"'),[2] 22by so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant. 23Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing. 24But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. 25Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 26For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; 27who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people's, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. 28For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever. Verse 26 where it says "For such a High Priest was fitting for us," this is speaking of Jesus and thus it should be capitalized. This is my opinion though. And since the NASB doesn't capitalize it then I guess they know something I don't. But it really doesn't matter because the context of the scripture is not changed. Now for the other scripture you cited, verse 27 reads "who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins". Again if you read this in context you can see that this is speaking about Jesus. If you are questioning if this is saying Jesus sinned then you are not clear on the understanding of the scripture. This verse is saying unlike the priest of old who had sins and had to cleanes themselves first before they could offer up sacrifice for the rest, Christ had NO sin for it says: Hebrews 4 15For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. If I have taken your question the wrong way please reply so that maybe I can give you a better answer. Raven |
