NASB | Hebrews 6:6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 6:6 and then have fallen away--it is impossible to bring them back again to repentance, since they again nail the Son of God on the cross [for as far as they are concerned, they are treating the death of Christ as if they were not saved by it], and are holding Him up again to public disgrace. |
Subject: Un-repented Sin |
Bible Note: Dear Vintage, You confuse the descriptive with the prescriptive, or the cause with the effect. Repentance is continually manifested in the life of one who is regenerate. Salvation is a work of God alone, always bearing fruit that we can characterize. Salvation is not a matter of some cooperative effort between man and God. He does not share the glory. How sad it must be to live with this Campbellite teaching. No wonder they baptize over and over. How fearful it must be to contemplate each night that one may have neglected to confess some sin or another. In Him, Doc Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee; let the water and the blood, from Thy wounded side which flowed, be of sin the double cure; save from wrath and make me pure. Not the labors of my hands can fulfill Thy law's commands; could my zeal no respite know, could my tears forever flow, all for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and Thou alone. Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to the cross I cling; naked, come to Thee for dress; helpless, look to Thee for grace; foul, I to the fountain fly; wash me, Savior, or I die. While I draw this fleeting breath, when mine eyes shall close in death, when I soar to worlds unknown, see thee on Thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee. --Augustus Toplady |
