NASB | Hebrews 6:6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 6:6 and then have fallen away--it is impossible to bring them back again to repentance, since they again nail the Son of God on the cross [for as far as they are concerned, they are treating the death of Christ as if they were not saved by it], and are holding Him up again to public disgrace. |
Bible Question (short): Partakers of the Holy Spirit? |
Question (full): Thanks for the response. I agree with your view of someone coming to God 'intellectually,' then saying, "No thanks." But, it says in this passage that they (the ones who can't be brought back to repentance) were 'partakers in the Holy Spirit.' This seems to imply that they had the Holy Spirit in them, which can't happen unless you've become a Christian. So, I HATE to ask this, is this a verse supporting 'conditional salvation?' How can someone be a partaker of the Holy Spirit and then say, "No thanks." Does the Greek text help here any? |
