NASB | Hebrews 2:17 Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 2:17 Therefore, it was essential that He had to be made like His brothers (mankind) in every respect, so that He might [by experience] become a merciful and faithful High Priest in things related to God, to make atonement (propitiation) for the people's sins [thereby wiping away the sin, satisfying divine justice, and providing a way of reconciliation between God and mankind]. |
Subject: DID JESUS EVER MARRY OR HAVE THE TEMPTAT |
Bible Note: Suzyq, well I've been married 42 years and haven't "suffered" from it in the least; it has been a blessing from God. Jesus was a guest in Cana at a wedding; He was not the groom! No, there is not even a hint in Scripture that our Lord married, dated, had a sweetheart, or anything of the kind. It is clear that Scripture records that our Lord met with temptation, and it is equally clear that He did not yield to it. It is not necessary to be married in order to be subject to or taste the sufferings that are endemic to the human condition. Depending on the quality of the marriage, it can exacerbate some of the problems of living or help to alleviate them. --Hank |
