Bible Note: Hi EdB As a matter of fact I do pray in the Holy Spirit. You ask why? I pray in the Holy Spirit when I am interceding for someone and do not know exactly what they need prayer for (Romans 8:26). And since I don’t know what they need prayer for, I have no way of knowing which scriptures to take into prayer with me. And when I pray in the Holy Spirit, he makes intercession according to the will of God (Romans 8:27). I also pray in the spirit/speak in tongues to talk to God, speak mysteries and to edify myself (1 Cor 14:2,4) After reading Rom 12:2 in context, I am not sure how taking v2 in context changes what I believe to be a biblical truth: I can, by the renewal of my mind, prove what is that good, acceptable and perfect will of God. You said ‘It really isn't saying we will know God's will in all situations’. What I do is if a situation arises, I look through my Bible and/or seek counsel/direction to scripture from other more mature Christians to find God’s will for that particular type of situation. If I find it (God’s will), then I do 1 John 5:14-15. If I don’t find it (God’s will), then I pray in the Holy Spirit. Either way, prayer according to the will of God is being prayed. |
