NASB | Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality--faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. |
Subject: Define Faith. |
Bible Note: Dear Lionstrong, hello! The reason I said, "I think we need not resort to esoteric or philosophical definitions or discussions of faith" is because I think we need not resort to esoteric or philosophical definitions or discussions of faith on a study Bible forum because the Bible is the best resource there is for examining what faith is, what it means, how to get it, and what to do with it once we have it. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. If the Bible doesn't give a clear explanation of what faith is, (it does, by the way) where then shall we find one? This is rhetorical; you need not respond. --Hank |
