NASB | Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality--faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. |
Subject: Define Faith. |
Bible Note: Lionstrong, certainly you're right that faith is important, for without it is impossible to please God (Heb.11:6). Without trying to steal CDBJ's thunder in answer to your question about what faith is, I'd suggest for starters the definition found in Heb.11:1. I think we need not resort to esoteric or philosophical definitions or discussions of faith in order to understand what the biblical view of faith is. --Hank |
