Bible Question: I am an elder in our church and have been a Christan for over 50 years, (thank God) am still in the maturing process! I am struggling with a problem of discernment. We have a woman in our church who believes that she hears 'Truth' directly from God. She also totally believes that she hears in a Special way. She is a good woman, and I believe she is sincere. She is coming before our Bd of Elders this week, because she wishes to address the congregation. Because of past experience, I believe that she borders on being fanatical...but how do I know that she is not a Spirit filled prophet? On a personal level she makes me very, very uncomfortable. I need to get past that personal feeling, and understand that she 'might' indeed be led by Christ. Please help. |
Bible Answer: More important is what is it that she says she is hearing from God. Does it line up with the Bible? Since you are uncomfortable with her speaking, this may be a red flag. You might ask her to give her testimony before the board members. Are you the pastor? I don't see anything wrong with a person giving their testimony however it is usually done in evening services not at the main worship service. |
