NASB | 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God's will, both publicly and privately--behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; |
Bible Question: How does a person respectfully and kindly Attempt to dialogue with someone who believes the only inspired Bible is the King James Bible? Just saying I would rather not get into this subject has not been fruitful, and made the KJV person come and insist we dialogue. They even believe the NASB was translated by some evil people. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Justme! I just wrote a great, beautiful post to this subject, but just lost the whole thing because it contained one of the characters that this website doesn't like and I pressed the back button and lost the whole thing.. Well, anyway. I know exactly what you are talking about and I have a at least a 15 year history on this subject of KJV Onlyism. Two books I recommend are: D.A. Carson's "King James Only Controversy: A Plea for Realism" James R. White's "The King James Only Controversy: Can you Trust the Modern Translations?" I've read both cover to cover and they are invaluable in their background information on this topic. Here are some websites that I was able to save before my post was erased: www.rapidnet.com/(replace w tilde)jbeard/bdm/Psychology/kjvonly.htm www.bibletranslation.ws/kjv.html www.evangelicaloutreach.org/kjvonly.htm www.aomin.org/kjvo.html fundyreformed.wordpress.com/2007/01/23/macarthur-company-on-kjv-onlyism/ www.fredsbibletalk.com/KJVonly.html www.angelfire.com/hi2/graphic1designer/false6.html lionofjudah.tribulationforces.com/false/kjvo.html I don't have the energy to recreate the post that should have been written, but hopefully this will serve as 'adequate.' Blessings to you, Makarios |
