Subject: Send My messenger before Your face |
Bible Note: Hi prayon, We are talking of Matthew 11:10 here. "For this is [he, He] of whom it is [Or, Lit. has been] written:..." I agree that from what we have discussed so far, that the name of Jesus doesn't necessarily fit in there. But now, let's look at the second part of my question. Are we looking for a prophet or the Prophet? Personally, I believe that we should be looking for the Prophet. That is what Jesus is saying in chapter 11: that He is the Coming One. That the people weren't out in the wilderness to see a reed shaken by the wind, but rather were looking for the coming Messiah, the Prophet. Matthew 11:9, But why did you go out? To see a *Prophet? Yes, I say to you, and *One who is more than a *Prophet. So, that is my personal interpretation, using capitalization of pronouns, for the verse. Then one can continue with verse 10, "This is the *One about whom it has been written, 'Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You." Would that make more sense to you? From the heart, Ray |
