Subject: Women starting churches....???? |
Bible Note: Let's say; God spoke to a woman, "evangelize the lost for me" and so the woman said yes. We all know that this kind of thing does happen. Is God really speaking audibly, who knows maybe, maybe not, but does this constitute a call from God. It sure is tempting tolerate such since in Galatians Paul wrote, "there is neither male nor female..." What would we really do with that scenario? Do we get in its face and make correction? Do we just not go to that church? Or do we go there and assume its okay? Or is there another approach? I would first of all like to point out that we don't have audible voices of God as normative today nor were they ever normative. We must not make the mistake of reading about miraculous things God spoke in the past and therefore assuming they happen today. Have I ever heard His voice? Have you ever heard His voice? Do you know someone who did? How do you know if what they said is true? Wouldn't it be extremely important to test this out? How did they test the prophets in the Old Testament for truth? The answer to that requires reading a little. In all reality the most likely way that we know of women receiving a call is a genuine inward change toward the things of God. Wanting to evangelize the lost, to bring them into the fold is a noble and Godly desire. Starting a church is too, but it is reserved for men to do according to scripture. Why must the inward desire for the woman to evangelize the lost have to include leading the church?!! Who needs to (possibly) receive the greater condemnation for being a teacher, when the serving God doesn't demand that?! Gal. 3:26-29 "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise." The issue here is clearly oneness! The idea is that the law has served its purpose and the promise is greater than the law hence it closes with "Abraham's seed", being what we are. |
