Bible Question: Would it be lawful on behalf of a Church to provide a weekly cheque for members that are unemployed? Just until they find another job? A part of me is saying yes because the Bible says we should help each other, another part of me is saying "It would only open the door to laziness and covetousness." What should a Church do? |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, humility, I would expand the context to verse 6 to 15. It is a command. While 1 Timothy 5:13 ... At the same time they also learn to be idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper to mention ... can apply to all, the context is young widows (vv 11-15). I think we need to provide work for all. They could be "simple" tasks, that is needed. Steve |
