AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Thessalonians 3:8 nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we worked night and day [to pay our own way] so that we would not be a financial burden on any of you [for our support]; |
Bible Question: Would it be lawful on behalf of a Church to provide a weekly cheque for members that are unemployed? Just until they find another job? A part of me is saying yes because the Bible says we should help each other, another part of me is saying "It would only open the door to laziness and covetousness." What should a Church do? |
Bible Answer: It isn't unlawful because there's no law against it. There is however the apostle Paul's advice in 2 Thessalonians 3:8-10. In my opinion, the church should offer temporary assistance. The unemployed should seek and obtain employment. |
