Bible Question: For those in this forum who believe that the spiritual gift of prophecy is alive and well in this church age: how should a prophet exercize his/her gift to edifiy the body? For example, when given a vision or a message, how aggressive should the prophet be to reveal it? |
Bible Answer: Dear Mommapbs, Very Carefully! With humility, fear and trembling in speaking the oracles of God! Every word should be tested for continuity with the Bible. Prophecy should bear the same kind of fruit as in Galatians 5. "Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil." 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 NASB "But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation." 1 Corinthians 14:3 NASB.
