AMPLIFIED 2015 | Philippians 2:6 who, although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes--the entire nature of deity], did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped or asserted [as if He did not already possess it, or was afraid of losing it]; |
Bible Question:
If Jesus was truly 'God', then how can he speak of equality with 'God' as something not be grasped? |
Bible Answer: Hello consider In the context of the passage, the equality is of glorified position. The Lord Jesus was willing to take the place of humility although He was rightfully deserving of all glory. He did not feel a need to clutch onto His rights but set them aside to go to the cross.
