NASB | Philippians 2:6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Philippians 2:6 who, although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes--the entire nature of deity], did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped or asserted [as if He did not already possess it, or was afraid of losing it]; |
Bible Question: How would Christ's mission have been different if he had grasped for equality? |
Bible Answer: I don't know wahat would have been different. I am not good with hypothetical questions on salvation. God's Revelation of what He actually did is difficult enough for me to grasp. It was not a question of "grasping for" an equality He did not have, but rather equality that was already in His hand (or already His), which he did not grasp (or continue to hold tightly) but loosened His grip enough to take on our humanity while subduing His glory.
