Bible Note: Kalos, for virtually all my life thus far I've been exposed to the promulgation of the idea that the New Covenant did away with the Old. I've even heard it proclaimed from the pulpit that Jesus 'did away with the Law, nailing it to the Cross.' How this sort of doctrine could be derived from Jesus' own words I shall never know, for what can be clearer than the Saviour's words of Matthew 5:17: "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill." To assert that nothing in the Old Testament applies to Christians not only serves to make Jesus Christ out as a liar, but it is also tantamount to admission that God changed His mind about the Ten Commandments, along with a host of other things. --Hank |
