NASB | Deuteronomy 24:4 then her former husband who sent her away is not allowed to take her again to be his wife, since she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the LORD, and you shall not bring sin on the land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Deuteronomy 24:4 then her former husband who [first] sent her away may not take her again as his wife, since she has been defiled; for that is an outrage before the LORD, and you shall not bring sin on the land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance. |
Subject: Does Deut. 24:1 still apply? |
Bible Note: In the NASB, the word in Malachi and Matthew is divorce, not "putting away". However, even if we were to use the ASV, KJV or Darby's Bible, we would see that in the context of the verses in question,(Mal 2:14-16; Matt. 19:3-9) the Bible itself equates "putting away" with divorce. |
