AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 5:33 However, each man among you [without exception] is to love his wife as his very own self [with behavior worthy of respect and esteem, always seeking the best for her with an attitude of lovingkindness], and the wife [must see to it] that she respects and delights in her husband [that she notices him and prefers him and treats him with loving concern, treasuring him, honoring him, and holding him dear]. Bible Note: Word study ... Phobeo and Timao ... Mommapbs, greetings. Once again English translations lead to misunderstanding ... Phobeo (Strong's Number: 5399) means "to put to flight by terrifying (to scare away)" ... and in this case to reverence, venerate, to treat with deference or reverential obedience" ... I don't think you should be afraid. The same idea is carried elsewhere (Col 3:22; 1Pe 2:17; Rev 14:7, 15:4, 19:5).. Timao (Strong's Number 5091) used in 1 Peter 2:17, means to honour, to have in honour, to revere, venerate. They are two different words in the Greek. Steve PS A husband is to love his wife, even if she doesn't do her part. Read the book of Hosea. The wife, likewise is to do her part; no matter whather husband does ... as we all are. Our actions should not be dependent on other men. Searcher |
